BMW is expanding its lineup with the X4 and growing its manufacturing base with a $900 million investment in its Spartanburg, S.C., assembly plant. "This is in response to rising global demand for the BMW X family to include the BMW X4," BMW board member Frank-Peter Arndt said. BMW says the investment will create 300 new jobs at the plant.
Subaru showed two other concepts alongside the Levorg at the Tokyo Motor Show – both of which are interesting, neither of which came with very much information. The Subaru Viziv Evolution proposes a three-motor hybrid all-wheel drive system, similar to that under development by Honda, while the Subaru Cross Sport Design concept appears to be nothing less than a shooting brake estate version of the BRZ. Everything's bigger in Texas, and it appears everything's faster, too. John Hennessey and his company, Hennessey Performance, brought its tuned-up, 707-hp Cadillac CTS-V wagon--a.k.a., the Hammer Wagon--to the Texas Mile and posted a one-mile speed of 189.7 mph, a new record for the car. And that wasn't even terminal velocity, according to Hennessey.
